The Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) saddened the way the journalist and others alleged rape victims as the government authorities imitated over the last two weeks that the rape case has been detained for six people including the journalist but more things were changed with its sinister overtones in front of the court on Tuesday January 29, 2013. Shockingly, one of the alleged victims was not present at the court and named Munira Jeylani Mohamed, who the Somali police commissioner, Gen. Sharif Shekhuna Maye is her grandfather and the Attorney General reiterated that they have the right to use Munira as a witness against the victim. In press conference at the police headquarters on 16 January, 2013, Gen. Sharif Shekhuna Maye, accused Mrs. Munira as the mastermind of the rape case.
Mrs. Munira Jeylani Mohamed was a staff member of an NGO that deals with women’s and child issues better known as Somalia Family and Child Care (SFCC) and led by Mrs. Nurta Sheikh Mohamud who is a sister of Somalia president his excellence Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Many times Nurto refused to comment this case and a lot of journalists tried to take her interview but decided top to talk at any media outlet since January 10, 2013.
Unfortunately, Nurta Sheikh Mohamud and her NGO staff are currently in the witness list including Munira who previously in the alleged victims list to support the police and the attorney general. There are reports indicating that the attorney general Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Muse himself along with some CID officers made a quick dash for visit over Nurta’s office at Tare piano building earlier last week to intimidate her or what, no one knows exactly what that meeting means and it waits an independent investigation.
Whatsoever, The Somali police, the office of the attorney General, the ministry of interior have repeatedly said publicly that the rape case has been detained for six people including the journalist so that SOMESHA calls the Somalia president together with his prime minster to publicly investigate the case and make sure the justice for all citizens domestically?.
SOMESHA also calls the international community to arrange foreign or local investigators to ensure that the case moves in a democratic manner.
