Daud supports to close Radio Shabelle and Welcome the release of the staff

The Secretary General of Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) H.E. Mr. Daud Abdi Daud thrilled to close radio Shabelle a privately owned radio station that used to fabricate the abusive defamation reports and news against the peace and sustainable development efforts going on Somalia in general.

The mainstream media is the most obvious in its inherent bias and manipulation. The mainstream media is owned directly by large multinational corporations, and through their boards of directors are connected with a plethora of other major global corporations and elite interests. But Somali media is different than that one due to lack of education and trust and they even don’t have any editorial board of directors mostly.

Shabelle media have lost the will by taking bribes from anti-government policy makers, and business groups to disseminate lawless reports and news against the peace-building process and fabricate so many stereotypes news to kill the bridge among the government and the ordinary society several times. In addition to that, the owner of Shabelle radio Mr. Abdimalik ordered to make a defamatory reports and news against few civil society members and government officials as they refused also to pay bribe and Shabelle radio started money extortion process.

“This kind of propaganda was exceptionally prohibited, and is non-ethical process so that I support the closure of radio shabelle and sky radio and welcome the release of the staff as I acknowledged that the Criminal InvestigationsDepartment  (CID) closed the radio and release the journalists later at the CID after questioning in a peaceful manner “said Mr. Daud
